To my customers, I am GE Plastics.
As a part of the Sales team, I deliver more than just plastic pellets
in a box. I help my customers grow by delivering value-added services,
from our industry-leading e-business website to next-day delivery
to state-of-the-art customer service and vendor-managed inventory.
I make doing business with GEP a valuable experience. I am their connection
to other GE businesses, such as GE Capital and GE Lighting. Trust
me, these services set us apart in the industry. Because our customers
want more than just products; they want business solutions.
The name of the game is growth.
By growing my customers' businesses (primarily Injection Molding and
Sheet Extruders), I can sell more thermoplastic resin and deliver
more value. This equates to bottom-line growth and profitability for
my suppliers (GE Plastics, Ticona, Honeywell, Elf Atochem and our
other 20 suppliers). If I'm successful, then the business and our
suppliers are successful. We have a winning growth model that benefits
us all: our customers, suppliers and employees.
Our motto is work hard and play hard.
We aren't your typical 8-to-5 types. A critical call from a customer
and your ability to respond can establish trust and be the foundation
for building a key business relationship. After all, relationships
are vital to being a successful Account Manager. What's the best part
of our day? When a customer tells us we've made their business better
- and they reward us with a huge new order!! We work hard at this.
Actually, we work hard period, but we also play hard. Quarterly regional
and annual national meetings allow us to share best practices and
enjoy being together as a team.
An Account Manager is the quarterback for the business.
An Account Manager's job is to navigate through the business to meet
customer needs. We are the front line. We are the voice of the customer.
We provide feedback to each business to help focus on new product
needs or specifications, new applications and new services. One example
of how we've connected our customers' feedback to new services is
our industry-leading website, www.gepolymerland.com. It's the product
of several things, including feedback from our customers telling us
exactly what, when and how they want it. Account Managers are the
avenues for introducing new services like this to our customers. Again,
we are here to take care of the customer and to help them become more
successful.
This position is a springboard to high level Sales, Marketing or business
leader positions. In truth, the list is endless because knowing the
customer and knowing how to take care of the customer is key to any
position. Our team is diverse. From Chemical Engineers to Business
and Marketing majors, each plays a valuable role. For us, it's demonstrating
the drive and passion to satisfy the customer that makes us successful.
