We are the biggest. And some would say the baddest.
Don't take that the wrong way. But because of our sheer size, we represent
a tremendous amount of output and absorb a tremendous amount of resources.
With that comes great expectations of performance. But the best part
of all is that, while the challenges are high, the satisfaction that
comes with success is equally rewarding.
Lexan® resin business is the largest, most profitable operation
in GEP.
We produce over a billion pounds of Lexan Polycarbonate a year, finding
its way into everything from car bumpers to compact disks. And we
produce a myriad of products for a multitude of customers at three
different sites: Mt. Vernon, Indiana; Burkville, Alabama; and Bay
St. Louis, Mississippi. That kind of effort requires fantastic execution - and
at the same time, the highest regard for the environment.
There is no such thing as "routine."
That's what makes work here exciting. We can be focused on traditional
manufacturing problems one moment, and suddenly find ourselves moving
to a web-based environment the next. The challenges are never ending,
and at times they can be daunting. But there are great people working
on great teams, and when we hit our goals, the satisfaction is enormous.
We're more than engineers.
Because we are a Manufacturing Operation, you can bet that there are
lots of managers, engineers and specialists. In fact, most of us are
engineers by training. But while it's true that we spend a lot of
time working on chemical engineering problems in a manufacturing environment,
we also work with people. So, regardless of title, all of us are expected
to be GE Leaders in everything we do. Working on every kind of problem
imaginable - on a global basis - challenges each of us to grow in new
and different ways.
